What Matters Most
By: Aldous Echegoyen

M
y mother died of cancer. It was a painful ordeal for her and for the whole family.I can still remember
what she always told me, "We have to tell the world how great our God is and how much He loves us".

She also mentioned this in front of a congregation here in Cebu. Inspite of her situation, she was courageous and was very positive that we as Christians should go out and tell the world about the love of God.We used to talk about death being just like
a door between our life here
on earth and our life after this- Heaven? Or Hell?

She died a year ago and I was there at her last breath. It was like I finished reading a good book, and that book has changed my life. The last thing she taught me was the lesson of death - our final destination. So I said to myself, "Very soon, when my time comes, I pray I'll die just like my mother - a fulfilled Christian."

Young as we are, we never give even a slight consideration to the fact that soon our time will come. Death is not the most important thing, because everybody dies, that's for sure. What matters most is the path you leave behind. A tree will soon die, but what matters most is the fruit it bore in its lifetime and the seeds that are planted from it. Because of this the tree never really dies, but lives on in future generations.

The Philippine Mission was organized to set a path for you. Young as we are, we can start our ministry full-time or part-time. The fact is, our mission starts as soon as we become a Christian, not when we are old or when we are already financially stable. Nor when we are incapable and bed-ridden. Our mission starts NOW.

Everybody dies - your father, your mother, your brothers, your sisters, your friends, your president, your boss, your janitor, your neighbors - there are no exemptions. Do you care where their souls will go after this life on earth?

Start a vision NOW. Join the Campaign for Christ and meet different types of people. This can be your training ground or your best opportunity to reach out to the lost and tell others that God loves them and that Christ died for them. Join and work with fellow believers, live with other believers, and really feel the needs of the people you meet.

One day you'll be on your deathbed and you'll remember what you have done NOW. Your life will be one of the greatest books in life, and you'll look up to God and say, "I have finished my course, I have fought a good fight." Death is not the most vital thing. What matters most are the fruits you bear in your lifetime and the seeds that are planted from you.

Start planting your seeds now and start bearing fruit. Join the Campaign
for Christ. This is a good place to start. Be a fulfilled Christian!
